Chapter President Gives Thanks

by Bobby Johnson

Southwest Tennessee Chapter President

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for voting me in as your P.B.A. Southwest Chapter President. My first endeavor as your president is to thank our past president, Mike Moore, for his leadership, dedication, and determination in first: 1) taking the bull by the horns and starting the Southwest Chapter, 2) spending uncounted time away from his family to ensure our needs as members were met, and 3) placing the needs of others over that of his self. I hope to be able to fill your shoes and thank you for your mentorship. I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Chris Locke, Greg Flint, Gwendolyn Walker, Dirk Beasley, Gary Hood, Bert Zickefoose, Jerry Lawson, and Michael Draper for being nominated to the board of directors for the Southwest Tennessee Chapter.

As most of you know, I have served the past three years as the senior vice president of our chapter, and along with Chris Locke, our new senior vice president have attended the SSPBA Leadership Training Class given in McDonough, GA. As a result of the benefits and knowledge gained from the leadership class we will schedule a leadership training class to be given here at our chapter. The class will teach us the responsibilities and duties of all board members and chairman positions.

My goals for this year are to have all board members attend a leadership class to be scheduled this year. I want to conduct a membership drive to increase our numbers, which helps our legislative goals and overall effectiveness and strengths as an organization. I want to visit each police department in the Southwest Chapter, which is represented by our members.

I want to establish a good communication link with all of our members to ensure better participation and attendance at our meetings.

The Southwest Tennessee Chapter currently meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The location is in the conference room at the Hampton Inn, 1280 W. Poplar Ave., Collierville, TN.

I look forward to the challenges that are ahead of us and with your help, input an experience, know we will achieve these goals, I hope to meet as many members as possible and will stand available to you as needed. Again, I thank you for the trust you have placed in me, and I will assist you in every way I can.
